Bill Sawyer

Treasurer

Bill was born in Boston, Massachusetts and, as a member of a military family, lived in places as diverse as Washington State, Kansas, Germany and Virginia. He received his BS in engineering from the University of Massachusetts.  He was on a spiritual path early on in college, but never found a direction that felt quite right.  By chance, he was introduced to New Thought at what was then the Church of Religious Science in Columbia, Maryland and immediately felt like he had found what was missing in his life. After relocating to northern Virginia, he gravitated to Unity and has been an active member ever since, especially in the music programs.  At Unity Church of Rockdale, Bill has also been busy helping out in the office and working with the Building & Grounds Team making improvements to our New Campus.

James Browning

Secretary

James first attended what is now Unity Church of Rockdale around 1984. He immediately liked the Unity message mainly prayer and positive affirmations. In 2000 James and his wife Rachael attended a couples retreat at Unity Village, Missouri for several days. James and Rachael both thoroughly enjoyed the week and the other couples attending. James and Rachael have 2 adult sons and 2 granddaughters ages 7 and 11. James is a sales rep for an Atlanta based company specializing in industrial maintenance products.

Sandy Swinney

President Emeritus

Sandy is second generation Unity. Sandy’s father introduced her to Unity at an early age. After exploring other churches, she realized that the Unity teachings gave her the answers she was looking for. Sandy owned her own business for 30 years. She has been married for 36 years and her mother and twin sister are also members of Unity. Sandy feels this is an exciting time to be on the board, with the new campus being built. She is honored to be a part of the new campus coming to fruition.
